Got Questions?

Here are a number of frequently-asked questions that we get:

How much personal time will it take?

In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, there is one annual show in December. We also participate in a Sweet Adelines regional competition in April each year, and have an annual weekend retreat in March to focus on preparing for competition. We perform in and around our area about 4-6 times per year for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as participating in Christmas and arts festival events.  As a chorus we also attend A.I.M. (Adventures In Music) in January and September for education and performance training.

What is the cost?

Our Region 12 works to keep costs low for education & training.

The monthly dues for our chorus is $25 which also pays for the yearly membership in Sweet Adelines International.

What is the audition procedure?

You may attend rehearsals at any time. You must attend at least three rehearsals prior to auditioning.  Auditioning consists of singing your part  to "How We Sang Today" in a quartet. The music team will sing the other parts.  The music team then brings their recommendation to the chorus for a vote.

Do I have to be a great singer?

If you love to sing and have a desire to improve your vocal skills, you are just what we need. Learning to sing acapella is a life long process, and the journey keeps us feeling young as we do our best each week to ring another chord.

How do I learn the songs?

CDs are available with your individual part featured.  Reading music is not required.  However, sheet music is used for notations and dynamics so your home practice is as rewarding as each week's rehearsal.
