Angela Suraci, SAI Master Director
Angela comes from a strong musical background. Her mother was a Sweet Adeline for over 40 years and her father was a professional jazz musician.
After she earned a degree in music and vocal pedagogy from San Francisco State University, she sang in professional choirs and pursued a career in opera. Upon joining Sweet Adelines International in 1998, she quickly took on leadership roles as a section leader and assistant director. She went on to become the director for a men's chorus in the Bay Area, then the front-line director for Mission Valley Chorus, located in Los Gatos in 2012.
In 2023, Angela became the front-line director for California Heat Chorus, as well. "Directing two choruses is challenging, but very rewarding. Each chorus is different," she remarked, "with different skill levels and educational needs." Angela is known for her imaginative performance packages and innovative musical arrangements. Under her guidance and direction, both choruses brought home medals at the 2024 Regional Competition.
Angela also provides private vocal instruction and coaches individuals, quartets and choruses throughout the U.S.
